George Yeo

Minister For Foreign Affairs

Cambridge years were formative – I read widely, exposed myself to different political philosophies and took part in student politics.

The SAF gave me an entirely new perspective to life – commanding a Hokkien platoon, handling training deaths, doing planning work in MINDEF, persuading people.

HBS was tough but taught me a lot about business and the US economy.

Politics is about the art of the possible and the drama of individual human lives.  I have been fortunate to hold interesting portfolios – MITA, MTI, MOH and MFA.

I enjoy reading, running, swimming, going to the gym.  My golf, unfortunately, has not improved.

I met my wife when she was still a final year student in NUS law. We have a daughter, three sons and a Labrador named Brownie.
